THE Albina (al-BEE-na) is named for a former entity in the city of Portland.  Established as a plat in 1872 and finally incorporated in 1887, the City of Albina stood on the east bank across from Portland, just north of the fledgling East Portland.  At a whopping 1/2 square mile at inception, Albina had big dreams.  Eventually the city grew to around 10 square miles before finally being merged into the big city.

A very simple design sits beyond the front porch.  Honestly, how much can you really do in 16' wide and 32' deep?  Let's not turn this into rocket science.  The size of the great room matches that of any modest house, a corner of which can be used for dining.  The kitchen has an optional island for extra prep area.  The bathroom is a mere 4x6 powder room with a shower head on one wall.  Or maybe it's a 4x6 shower with a toilet and sink in it.  The rear bedroom is of the same quality as the great room.

Up the stairs (ladder?) is a 300sf loft.  Do be mindful of your head.  Walking down the middle affords 7-8' of height, but the walls quickly dive to 3' in height.  This makes a great kid space or overflow sleeping area.

For the developer in you, we have determined that at least three of these charmers will fit onto a 50x100 lot.  Great for temporary worker housing, beach rentals or slumlords!  When combined with the Albina A you could have quite a cute and diverse little community.  Much like Portland, East Portland, and Albina.

All plans include four elevations, floor plans, foundation plans, at least two building sections, framing plans for the second floor and/or roof, and notes and construction details. This is everything you will need to build, but may not be everything you need to get a permit. Check with your local jurisdiction. Electrical layouts, cabinet elevations and engineering are not included.
